Free ATMs
American Bank doesn't charge a fee for ATM usage, but you may be charged by the institution that owns the ATM. To help you further avoid ATM fees, American Bank has become a member of the SUM/InterCept, PRESTO, MONEYPASS and ACCEL/Exchange surcharge-free networks. By becoming a part of these networks, we maintain our commitment to offering our customers additional resources to reduce their out-of-pocket ATM costs.
SUM/InterCept
Switch Network
The SUM/InterCept Switch Surcharge-Free program provides you with
surcharge-free access to more than 5,100 ATMs. This network has a presence
in 45 states and U.S. territories including Alabama, Arkansas, California,
Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New
Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada,
Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina,
Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
PRESTO!
The PRESTO! Alliance network is comprised of ATMs at all Publix Supermarkets, which covers a significant portion of the south, with approximately 900 ATMs at over 600 locations that have accessibility 24 hours per day. Publix has over 600 ATMs throughout the state of Florida.
MONEYPASS
The MoneyPass ATM network has over 10,000 convenient locations coast to coast, giving you more choices for accessing your accounts, and all are surcharge-free. With surcharge-free ATMs available across the United States, including nearly 1,000 each in California and Minnesota, you are sure to find a location where you live, work and travel.
Plus,
it just got a little more convenient for you to find surcharge-free ATMs while
you are out and about. The new MoneyPass ATM Locator app for the Apple iPhone
can be used anywhere to find the nearest MoneyPass ATM. All you have to do
is visit the iPhone App Store and download the free MoneyPass ATM Locator. The
app provides the same user friendly search capabilities as the online locator.
The app is easy to use and you can even locate ATMs from your exact current
location. ATM information can be sent to an email address and directions to the
ATM can be mapped.
ACCEL/Exchange
The ACCEL/Exchange network offers surcharge-free ATMs at participating financial institutions that are located in all 50 U.S. states, U.S. territories and across Canada.
Here are other ways to minimize or avoid ATM surcharges:
Withdraw more cash than you need and visit ATMs less often.
Ask to add an extra amount to your payment for cash back when you make a purchase via check card or personal check at a grocery store. Merchants that accept ATM cards/check cards for purchases ("point-of-sale" transactions) often will add a cash withdrawal to the purchase price without imposing a surcharge.
In addition to using your American VISAŽ Check Card when traveling, you may also want to consider using travelers checks, personal checks, or cash a check at your hotel.
