Allentown, PA, Friday, July 01, 2005
Allentown, PA, July 1, 2005 – American Bank (NasdaqSC: AMBK) today announced that it will be offering the industry-leading RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication solution to both its online consumer customers and business administrators free of charge. The token-based system will offer customers an additional layer of security when they access their accounts using pcbanker, American Bank’s premier online banking solution. The tokens will be available to all new and existing customers but is not required for online account access.
The two-factor authentication solution from RSA Security is comprised of two components: something you have and something you know. The “something you know” component consists of the traditional Sign-On ID and Password from American Bank and is used to sign on to pcbanker. The “something you have” component is provided by a small token device. Each token displays a new, unpredictable, six-digit code every 60 seconds. During the sign-on process, pcbanker.com will verify that the number entered is the number that is displayed on the token at that time. If the numbers match and the password is correct, the customer is authenticated and granted access to their accounts.
“American Bank is illustrating its commitment to ensuring that their customers’ information remains confidential and secure by selecting RSA’s SecurID® authentication solution,” said Chris Young, vice president of consumer authentication at RSA Security. “RSA Security has been a long-time leader in the two-factor authentication market and we are pleased to be working with an organization like American Bank that is as committed to protecting consumers’ personal information as RSA Security. RSA Security will continue to lead the way in delivering two-factor authentication services as the needs of the financial services industry continues to grow.”
In order to enroll in the service, customers should sign-on to their accounts using pcbanker and register for the service by completing and submitting the enrollment form. Additional information about the RSA SecurID two-factor authentication solution available from American Bank can be found on the Company’s web site, www.pcbanker.com.
